What Do You See?

When I face to the north
I can see a black wall with bright neon lights.
I also see a door with the word exit written in bold print.
I also see blue and black tiles on the floor, and
I see a couch with cylinder like pillows.
I feel the heat from the sun on my face.
I hear the air blowing through the vents.
I’m thinking about when I was living back at home on a cool, windy evening.

When I turn to the west
I can see the back of the convention center and a construction site.
I also see the beautiful sunset, pretty skyscrapers, other tall buildings, and
where you would normally get on the cruise ships from the Riverwalk Shopping Mall.me
I can feel the wind blowing outside when I put my hand on the window.
I hear the shuttle busses and the cars passing by the cruise ships.
I remember when I first went to Baldwin after the hurricane and I saw the town and my new school.

When I turn to the south
I see the Westbank Expressway and trucks and cars on their way to houses or to jobs.
I also see a ship passing by.
I can feel the breeze on my body when I sit near the window.
I hear the kids behind me and Christina talking to Ms. Sue.
I wish I was in California visiting my aunts and cousins.
I also wish that the people in California would be safe after all the wildfires have stopped.

When I turn to the east
I can see blue roofs, water towers, and the street lights.
I can feel the breeze on my head when I sit by the window.
I hear the kids behind me laughting and I can smell the smoke from China Town.
Now I understand how it feels like to live on a cruise ship.
